REX

THE FAITHFUL GREAT DANE

In 1910, Vincent Nastri, a pipe maker from Salerno, Italy, expanded his reach into the world of tobacco. A century later his vision is kept alive as Barclay Rex, a premiere Wall Street retail store. Originally nestled between Barclay and Church Streets, the store also borrowed inspiration from Nastri’s faithful Great Dane, called Rex, which led to the name Barclay Rex. In 1949, Barclay Rex moved to Maiden Lane, under the careful watch of Vincent Nastri and Vincent Nastri II.

For more than a half-century, father and son crafted pipes and expanded into other tobacco products. The torch would be handed down again as Vincent Nastri III stepped into the world that he had grown up in. At the turn of the millennium, Barclay Rex moved to a new location at 75 Broad Street, where it remained for 15 years.

REX CLUB

A BEAUTIFUL AND MODERN CIGAR CLUB.

Vincent Nastri then found his ideal location nearby, signing a 20-year lease for the entire four-story building at 126 Pearl Street. He would there build the most impressive cigar shop and lounge the Financial District had ever seen. Barclay Rex’s 111-year history stood alone in an industry that saw so many other shops open and close their doors over the years. The new location was a great opportunity to utilize a larger space to accommodate his patrons while welcoming new ones.

In this new location, the ground floor houses the tobacco shop, which offers many brands of hand-made pipes, such as Dunhill, Castello, Radice, and even pipes that Vince Nastri II made, along with a walk-in humidor that houses a wide selection of premium cigars, such as Padron, Davidoff, Ashton, and their very own signature cigar: The Y.O. by Yaxel Ortiz, a unique Nicaraguan cigar. Barclay Rex also sells a collection of accessories for the modern-day gentleman. The lower level has a lounge where Wall Street tycoons often come to kick back and have a smoke. Last month, Vincent was proud to announce a new addition for Barclay Rex: Rex New York; a beautiful and modern cigar club with humidified lockers for members on the 2nd floor that is open late 7 days a week!
